Des Moines Public Library Foundation acts as a grantmaker to the Des Moines Public Library. Library leaders listen to the needs of the community and we respond by identifying funding sources to support vibrant programming and innovate beyond the city budget.
Our donors give for many reasons. They understand the importance role libraries play in strong communities. They know boosting literacy at an early age will help people throughout their lifetimes. They believe in the freedom to read. They want to honor a loved one who had a passion for books. They trust us to steward their legacy.
The impact the DMPL Foundation makes comes from a combination of our donor dollars and library staff efforts. We work to grow funding for library support through annual donations, individual gifts, grants, sponsorships, and carefully invested endowment funding.
